This summer, the Canada Strong Pass makes it easier and more affordable for Canadians to explore the country’s parks, historic sites and cultural institutions. Running from June 20 to September 2, 2025, the program offers free or reduced-cost access at participating locations so families, young people and solo travellers can enjoy more of Canada’s natural beauty and heritage without worrying about steep admission fees.
The Canada Strong Pass is simple to use: there is no registration or physical pass to carry. Visit a participating site during the program dates and the applicable discount or free admission is applied on-site. Some experiences may still require reservations, so it’s a good idea to check ahead for booking requirements and availability.
What’s included in the Canada Strong Pass?

The pass covers a broad range of Parks Canada places, including national parks, historic sites and marine conservation areas, all offering free general admission during the program. Whether you’re planning to hike in the Rockies, visit battlefields and forts, or paddle through a protected waterway, the discount removes a common barrier to getting outside and seeing the country’s most significant natural and historic places.
Major cultural institutions are also participating with reduced rates for young people and free admission for children. Children 17 and under receive free entry to participating museums, while youths aged 18–24 are eligible for 50% off admission at many of the country’s leading museums. Participating institutions include the Canadian Museum of History, the Canadian War Museum, the National Gallery of Canada, and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, among others. Check the official list of participating attractions to plan your visits and make reservations where required.
Discounts on camping
If you want to spend a night or more in nature, Parks Canada-managed campgrounds are part of the offer. Campers can receive 25% off stays during the program period on a range of options, such as:
- Tent and RV campsites
- Backcountry overnight trips
- Unique overnight accommodations like cabins, oTENTiks, yurts, tipis, Ôasis units and MicrOcubes
These discounts make it easier to experience the outdoors comfortably without expensive gear or heavy costs, and they can help families and groups plan longer stays in parks and protected areas.
Exploring Canada by train? Kids and youths get discounts
Train travel within Canada is also more affordable during the program. VIA Rail is offering free Economy Class travel for children 17 and under when accompanied by an adult, and a 25% discount for youths aged 18 to 24 on Economy and Escape fares. This can help families and young travellers reach national parks, museums and coastal destinations across the country at lower cost.
What if you reserved before the Canada Strong Pass was announced?
If you booked travel or park stays in advance for dates that fall within the program period, and your reservation qualifies for a Canada Strong Pass discount, you may be eligible for a refund of the difference. Contact the operator or booking provider to request an adjustment and confirm any necessary documentation.
Things to keep in mind about the Canada Strong Pass
The Canada Strong Pass benefits apply only at participating locations and during the stated dates. A few practical details to remember:
- Only one promotion will be applied at a time — the best available discount will be used if multiple offers are available.
- Popular sites may have limited space or require advance reservations, so plan and book early where possible.
- Proof of age may be requested to verify child or youth rates, so bring appropriate identification for those claiming reduced or free admission.
The Canada Strong Pass is designed to help Canadians get out and enjoy the country — from nearby weekend trips to longer cross-country adventures. By removing admission fees or reducing costs for young people and families, the program helps make national parks, historic places and cultural institutions more accessible for everyone.
